Worship Team - Bands
Worship is a sacrificial service to the Lord. We must have hearts like David who said
"I insist on paying the full price. I will not take for the LORD what is yours, or sacrifice a burnt offering that costs me nothing."
1st Chronicles 21:24
We believe that the Church is the place to freely worship the Lord without restraint.
We believe that God has called us all to worship him with all we are.
We also believe that worship should challenge you to be pushed to a higher level of experiencing the presence of the Holy of holies. Therefore we will worship the Lord with extravagant, exciting, contemporary praise that can shake the gates of Hell and exalt the Holy One in a manner pleasing to him. |

Key Roles
Vocalist:
Vocalists use their voice to glorify the Father with an angelic sound. New incoming vocalists are asked to join the Freshman Leadership Option small group. We ask that each member meet with a "root group leader" with in the band for accountability and growth with in the team. We also ask that they attend all necessary practices, High Impact Team meetings, and other team events. Each member is expected to be very familiar with all songs that are scheduled to be practiced for that week before arriving to practice. Vocalists are expected to come to practice with any specific questions concerning their parts. Although the Friday night hangout times are optional, vocalists are strongly encouraged to attend. Attendance to Sunday Morning Worship meetings is also required within reason.
Instrumentalists:
Instrumentalists use their talents to play skillfully to the Father like David played the harp. New incoming instrumentalists are asked to join the Freshman Leadership Option small group. We ask that each member meet with a "root group leader" with in the band for accountability and growth with in the team. We also ask that they attend all necessary practices, High Impact Team meetings, and other team events. Although the Friday night hangout times are optional, members are strongly encouraged to attend. Attendance to Sunday Morning Worship meetings is also required within reason.
Worship Leaders:
Worship leaders lead and direct the bands to grow musically and spiritually. It is strongly suggested that Worship Leaders attend worship leader conferences, Programming Meetings, and HIT meetings. Worship Leaders should be available to assist other members of the band for various reasons. Leaders are also asked to post setlists and provide music for members, and prepare for practices and meetings in a timely fashion. Leaders are also asked to be at practices and meeting at least 15 min early to prepare for members.
How to Get Involved with a Worship Band
- First ALL members are asked to attend the Worship Interest Meeting on August 21.
- Second, new members are asked to attend FLO for small group where they will be teamed up with a "root group leader."
- Thirdly, new members are asked to attend the first few practices to observe the team in action.
- Next, team members should be expected to play and/or sing individually and with the band for observation and evaluation much like an audition by the second practice.
- Finally members are selected based on the evaluation of skill, humility, and spiritual walk by the worship leaders.
New members waiting to be selected to the band should still attend the meetings and practices of their "root group leader" as well as serving with the Production Crew during their band's off week by week 4 of the semester.
