Complete prior to event:

  • Advertising will need to be done several weeks in advance so people can have time to think about it and re-arrange their schedule if need be. Ed should be contacted about the event going in the announcement section of the bulletin. Another good way to advertise the event is to make a flyer for it and put the flyer in the bulletin.
  • Contact different rafting companies to get rates for the time of year you want to go rafting. Here are web pages from some of the bigger rafting companies:
  • Make reservations at one of the rafting centers.
  • Find out what time you need to be there and plan to get there 30 minutes to 1 hour before then so that there will be time to get ready.

Wisdom gained from previously organizing event:

  • Bring synthetic clothes to wear (swimsuit, fleece, wetsuit, etc).
  • Don't wear any cotton.
  • Bring a sack lunch to eat beforehand.
  • In the past, we have went on the Nantahala because of it's location and because it has some good rapids and is not too expensive. The Chattooga has better rapids, but it is more expensive.
