The Biblical term saint means, holy one, one who is set a part. All who repent of their sin and put their faith in Jesus Christ are saints. They are set apart and will be with Jesus forever in heaven. Because God is just and our justifier, we will not be judged with those who die apart from Christ. We will be set a part and our life work will be judged. We will be judged, not to determine our eternal destination, but rather to determine eternal rewards. Before we look at verses about rewards in heaven, let's consider some verses that describe us now that we have been set apart for Jesus.

  1. How does 1 Peter 2:9 describe those who are set apart for Jesus?
  2. From his prayer in Ephesians 1:18-19, what does Paul want us to know?
  3. How do you think your life would be different if you understood the verses in 1 Peter 2:9 and Ephesians 1:18-19?
  4. What do you think needs to happen for you to start seeing yourself as God sees you now that you are in Christ?
  5. According to 1 Corinthians 3:13 - 15, what will determine whether our rewards last?
  6. What does 1 Corinthians 3:15 tell us if our life work is burned up in judgment?
  7. What does James 3:1 say about the judgment of those who are spiritual leaders?
  8. What do we learn in Psalm 116:15 about the death of a believer?
  9. From Psalm 23:4, what are David's thoughts concerning death?
  10. In Revelation 14:13, what do we learn about the death of a believer?
  11. According to Hebrews 11:6, what must we believe about God in order to please Him?
  12. Atheletes in Rome competed for crowns that were made of perishable vines and leaves. According to 1 Corinthians 9:25, what kind of crown are we as Christians to train for to receive?
  13. According to 1 Corinthians 9:26-27, what were Paul's thoughts about receiving the prize and not being disqualified?
  14. What is the difference between trying and training?
  15. In Philippians 4:1, what was Paul's crown?
  16. What was Paul's hope, joy and crown according to 1 Thessalonians 2:19?
  17. According to 2 Timothy 4:7-8, who will be rewarded with the crown of righteousness?
  18. What reward does God promise in James 1:12 to give to those who persevere under severe trials?
  19. According to Revelation 2:10, how faithful are we to be in order to receive the "crown of life"?
  20. According to 1 Peter 5:1-4, what reward will God give to His shepherds who serve well as overseers?
  21. In order to receive "the victor's crown" in 2 Timothy 2:5, what must we do?
  22. What do the following verses tell us about what spiritual activities God promises to reward?
    1. Matthew 6:3-4
    2. Matthew 6:6
    3. Matthew 6:16-18
    4. Matthew 5:17-19
  23. According to Revelation 4:9-10, what do the elders do with their crowns?
  24. According to Revelation 4:11, why is God worthy of our crowns?
