Some think that because God is good He will overlook our sins. But if you were guilty of terrible crimes and told the judge, "Judge, I've done wrong but I believe that you are good and will, therefore, overlook my crimes." How do you think the judge would respond? Perhaps he'd say, "I am a good man and becuase of my goodness I am going to see that justice is done and you are punished for your crimes." The very thing that many people are hoping will save them on Judgement Day, God's "goodness", will be the very thing that will condemn them. Since God is good, He will not let the guilty go unpunished.
