  • How would you define "Passion"?
  • What's one of your most embarrassing moments?

Brief intro: The Bible talks about salvation, how we need to be saved, how we need a Savior. But why? Why do we need a Savior? From what do we need to be saved? We must understand the nature of God, the seriousness of sin and sin's consequences. The Bible says that sin has consequences that affect us here and now as well as into eternity and, therefore,we need a Savior.

  1. John 3:16 is probably the most famous quotation from any literature ever written. It tells us that God _______________ us. Many places in the Bible we are told of God's love for us. Many of us have never felt His love. We are detached or separated from Him. We are often detached emotionally when we are embarrassed. Would you say there is anything about God that causes you embarrassment or you are uneasy with concerning God's way of doing things?
  2. Read Nahum 1:2-8 and list the various attributes of God.
  3. What would you say is the attribute of God that is mentioned the most in Nahum 1:2-8?
  4. To fully understand God's love and mercy we must first understand His justice and wrath. What a place to start. Why might you be somewhat embarrassed on the subject of God's wrath?
  5. God is perfect in every way, even in His wrath. This should not embarrass us. He is not the source of our embarrassment. Let's turn it around and look at ourselves. How have you embarrassed God? How have you been convicted of sin and realized that you deserved God's wrath and judgment?
  6. Most of us might say that we were in a little trouble with God, but overall, why shouldn't He love me? I'm not that bad of a person. Have we come face to face with how God saw us? How does Colossians 1: 21 describe our relationship with God before Jesus Christ?
  7. What does 2 Corinthians 5:21 say that Jesus did for us? Jesus Christ's death was more than just a legal transaction. God is a God of vengeance and wrath. He had legitimate anger and retribution towards you. Do you know what it is like to hate someone? Do you know what it is like to want to avoid or keep your distant from someone? God had these thoughts and emotions towards you, but He also loves you so He chose to pour out his wrath and indignation onto His son.
